As May bank holiday approaches my friend and I all get our thinking caps on to decide where we are going on our annual camping trip. Last year we only ventured to the outskirts of London but this year we decided to venture a little further afield (My jokes are terrible!).
We settled on Battle, and thank goodness it didn't rain, although it was really windy and cold, but we wiled away the time eating what felt like an entire cow, drinking Pimms and learning about The Battle of Hastings. There also was a medieval festival on for the Bank Holiday, which was an added bonus. Jane and Ai made friends with Horris the very large and scary owl! The boys tired on all the medieval helmets and drank local ale, and I resisted the urge to sit down with all the kids and paint a sheild and dancing around the Maypole.
Not terribly exciting as fields go but this is where the Battle of Hastings took place, with Battle Abbey at the top of the hill.
